I am an Associate Professor of French specializing in 17th-century literature and cultural history. I’ve been working and living in Lawrence, Kansas for the past ten years, and am fortunate to spend three months every year in Paris (a place I love) as well as trips to the UK and elsewhere. We are what we research, and my interests focus on subversion, fashion, and ecclesiastical history, a lot of which concerns beauty, the focus of this blog.

Disclaimer: None of the content in this blog represents or purports to represent the University of Kansas, nor does anything I write necessarily reflect the teachings and doctrines of the Catholic Church.

Il est vrai qu’une comparaison de ces deux oeuvres profondes aurait été une intéressante approche de cette numineuse époque littéraire.
Vous remerciant de l’intérêt que vous avez porté à mon blog.

    Bien à vous,

I just came across your blog very accidentally, trying to research a pair of cufflinks I own. I am stunned. Your writing, your references, your cufflinks ! I only follow one other blog- and now two ! Thank you. Thank you. Thank you.

    • Thank you so much, Joseph! I’ve been on a little hiatus (the blog is a pleasure activity rather than something I feel obliged to write) but your comment inspires to finish my next entry, which I will do tomorrow! It’s always nice to meet a fellow cufflink wearer, particularly one who is so pleasant 🙂
